Mitha Bol

Mitha Bol translates to sweet words. This is the landmark debut field recording from Amarrass Records, captured raw in December 2010 deep within the desert villages of Rajasthan. Using a borrowed portable two-track analogue recorder and 90-minute tapes, these are single-take, two-channel archival recordings made directly in people's homes and village courtyards. No sterile studio environments, no modern overdubs, and no artifice. Featuring master vocalists, sarangi players, and percussionists from the Manganiyar and Langa communities, the album carries an emotional urgency and presence that no commercial session could ever replicate. This is an essential document of a living oral tradition caught at its absolute source. Nominated for the GIMA Music Awards in the Best Folk Music category.
