Madou Sidiki Diabaté – Live in India

A 71st-generation kora player from Bamako, Mali, making his debut concert appearances in India. Recorded live at the Amarrass Desert Music Festival 2011 at Siri Fort in New Delhi, this album documents a night of singular beauty. Madou Sidiki Diabaté's kora playing is liquid and luminous, his melodies spinning from a lineage stretching back over seven centuries of West African court music. Hearing that tradition land in New Delhi, in direct conversation with the desert air that also produced the Manganiyars, is something else entirely. Recorded and produced by Amarrass Records, the album is presented in a premium cardboard digipak with detailed liner notes.
